The UK Government's intention is eventually to
replace many of the benefits covered in this section of the guide
with a new benefit called Universal Credit, which so far has only
been introduced in certain areas of the UK, called pathfinder
areas, on a very limited basis for restricted groups of people. At
the time of writing, most of the benefits covered in this section
can still be claimed, except for those people claiming Universal
Credit in the pathfinder areas.
